This is some work done by San Francisco artist Flight404 http://www.flight404.com. It's all done in code through processing (using openGL I think). He also has some interesting discussion on his blog about his beat detection method for input into the code.

when i took processing at machine project, this it the first website we visited. this guy does amazing work and it shows. the vimeo stream does little to show the level of detail he put into it. i highly recommend downloading the 200MB quicktime file
