8 Bit Sample Kit From Wake!
_________________________________________________________________________
It's been a hot minute since we shared some tools with you. This installment of the Circuitree Toolkit comes direct from Oakland, CA, where Matt Hettich, aka Wake resides. Currently on the cusp of graduating from the illustrious Mills College with an MFA Electronic Music, Mr. Wake is destined for great things. With a large and growing handful of tunes on Circuitree and Catalog Records, as well as a collaborative album with DDB (TFPP), there's plenty to immerse yourself in. He's remixed Machine Drum, Caroline, and Panic Bomber brilliantly while managing to balance school and helping launch Catalog. Stay tuned for more great music from this gifted composer.

Eigenharp, i think someone in the cantina played this...
Check out the eigenharp, a pretty neat usb controller that features a bunch of buttons, some touch strips, and a breath controller. Too bad it looks to only use proprietary software. But its still in alpha release so maybe they will open it up to some other more common software. Either way maybe those middle school oboe lessons weren't a complete waste.

All that button mashing and lost quarters can be some good use...
This DIY controller features 16 arcade style buttons and LEDs to create a nice little MIDI contoller. I say you should mic it too, and have a sweet clicky click click solo of the buttons. Next gen from these guys will add 2 little joysticks. DjTechTools

Yamaha is releasing the Tenori-on with orange instead of white LEDs a little cheaper because it wont run on batteries and doesnt have the LEDs in the back for the maximo showmanship.

Mustaches!
I saw this product ($7), which I find quite amusing....
And it reminded me of one of the best music videos of all time, the Soft Pink Truth - Promofunk.

Speaking piano
Some Austrians using computers and a real piano make analog synthesized speech. Basically they have an actuator over every key on a piano, and they figured out how to use a computer to control the set up such that a series of keys pressed together in certain ways creates speech. The voice kind of scares me, but the choice of a little boy would do that.
